Dia dhuibh

Mo chéad am anseo. Bhí mé cuiosach maith ag Gailge so scoil níos mó ná triocha bliain o shin. Ach níl morán seans agum é a usáid lá go lá.

So tá Suil agum go mbeidh sé ok if I bris into English ó am go ham.

The cutting and pasting of ‘Fadas’ is very tedious –an bfuil aon slí nios eascaigh?

An fá at me anseo seo cead ait na go bfuil me ag leaigh leabhair Patrick O Brian.(Aubrey /Maturin series).

The author pretended all his life to be Patrick O Brian-Irishman. In fact bhí se Sasanach Richard Russ.

Ta beirt ‘heroes’ sa fiche leabhair ‘canon’ Jack Aubrey agus Stephen Maturin.
Maturin is leath Irish –leath Catalan.

O am go ham leabhrainn Stiofan sa slí ‘irish’

Mar shampla anocht tá me ag leabh leabhair uimhir a hoandeag-Reverse of the Medal-
Agaus usadin(?) Maturin an phrase seo

‘your very good health and may no new things arise’

Ta an scriobhnoir meticulous in detail so bhi me ag ceapadh if this could be an irish phrase translated?

Nil me in ann to remember any similar Irish phrase ach nil me ro mhaith.

I recommend the books highly

Slan

Alec

Hi Alec. Léigh mé gach leabhar sa tsraith sin, fiche ceann acu san iomlán. Tá an t-ádh ort, ó tá naoi leabhar le léamh agat fós! Bhain an-sult go deo astu, agus as an teanga go háirithe -- focail agus cora cainte a bhí in úsáid 175 bliana ó shin á n-úsáid go nádúrtha i gcomhrá na bpearsana. Agus is scéalaí den chéad scoth é O'Brian gan dabht!

Maidir le do cheist, aontaím leat go bhfuil blas na Gaeilge ar an abairt sin, ach cliseann orm mo mhéar a leagan air. Agus ní hé sin le rá nach raibh spéis ag na Sean-Ghaeil i rudaí nua. Eimhear, in "Serglige Con Culainn", a dúirt "is gel cach núa... is serb cach gnáth"!
