hello, I wrote a friend of mine a song for her birthday, and as it gets handed around I wanted it to go with a little story, linking her to the song. Below is the story (both my Gaeilge attempt and the béarla). would someone be so kind as to check me for grammar and usage, et cetera...(ps if the fadas don't come out, just email me and I'll email you both - go raibh maith agat)

Bhí Cor Aoife scríobhta ar 11 Lúnasa 2001 do Aoife, cara cumadóra. Bhí seo gar-cor tionmaite chun an álainn bean óg (cláirseóir, ban-aisteoir, ceoltóir ar fheabhas agus leannán gaç rudaí Ceilteach) ar a fiche céad lá breithe, 23 Nollag 2001.

Bhí insint níos mó traidisiúnta forbairthe, ach bhí seo insint an bronntanas.

Ní raibh an bronntanas ceart an cor, ach an craobh scaildeadh de i bhfad agus fairsing le seo scéal déan neamhbhásmhar bean ar leith agus speisialta trí an ceol Ceilteach gránn sí an méid.

Eva's Reel was written on 11 August 2001 for Evangeline, a friend of the composer. This pseudo-reel was dedicated to the beautiful young woman (a harpist, actress, first-rate musician and lover of all things Celtic) on her 21st birthday, 23 December 2001.

A more traditional version was later developed, but this version was the gift.

The true gift was not the piece itself, but the dissemination of it far and wide along with this story, to immortalize a special and remarkable woman through the Celtic music she loves so much.

Iarracht eile duit thíos. Ní fheadar nárbh fhearr leat ceol 'Gaelach' ná ceol 'Ceilteach'?

:::: --

Cumadh Cor Aoife ar an 11ú lá de Lúnasa na bliana 2001. Ba chara le hAoife fear a chumtha. Cumadh é mar chomhartha measa ar an gcailín aoibhinn cumhra ar aisteoir, ar cheoltóir cruite í agus ar scothoirfide í ar mór aici gach ní a bhaineas le saol na gCeilteach. Tiomnaíodh di an cor, más cor é, ar ló comórtha a breithe, an 23ú lá de Nollaig na bliana 2001, nuair a bhí bliain is fiche slán aici.

Cuireadh leagan níos sean-nósaigh ina áit ar ball, ach ba é seo an leagan a bronnadh uirthi.

Níorbh é an cor ann féin an bronntanas, ach ba é seachadadh Chor Aoife agus scaipeadh a scéil cheann ceann na cruinne é, sa chaoi go mairfidh cuimhne go síoraí ar an mnaoi ar leith seo trí mheán an cheoil Cheiltigh a bhfuil a croí sise féin istigh ann.

::::::::::::::::::::::

Níor bhreathnaíos i mo dhiaidh le cinntiú go bhfuil gach ní mar is ceart.
