Greetings,

I am in dire need for a translation of the following into either modern or old irish if possible.

Magical Ring
Ring of Friends
Circle of Friends
Guardians of Erin

Just for the curious as to why I need those translations. I represent a group of players of an online roleplaying game called Dark Ages of Camelot and we are situated in the lands of Hibernia. As we are currently forming a kinband we are in need for a nice sounding irish name to fit the theme of our background lands. Thank you very much in advance for hopefully helping us out with this.

Roderic

Magical Ring - Fáinne Draíochta
Ring of Friends - Fáinne Cairde
Circle of Friends - Ciorcal Cairde
Guardians of Erin - Gardaí Éireann.

The band of legendary Heros who protected Ireland against invaders were the Fianna, something you might also consider!

If you you want to give these a more antiquated feel, you could also consider the following versions. (They are still modern Irish, not Old Irish.)

Fáinne na gCarad / Ring of Friends
Ciorcal na gCarad / Circle of Friends
Gardaí Fódla or Gardaí Fáil (There are lots of old terms for Ireland.) / Guardians of Ireland

Greetings...

thank you all for the help so far. Again I want to ask for your help with some words I picked up from a book on Irish Mythology in our effords to find a name for our kinband. Please excuse the correct use of Fadas as I am just beginning to become fascinated with this language. We appreciate your help greatly and would like to include this list and the helpful people in this thread on our thank you appreciation list once we found our name and bring our website up. Thank you.

Dán - what does this word mean? Another form for Fate or Destiny?

Bhrean = Guardian? Thus could 'Bhrean Uathach' mean Wraithguard or something like that? If not, what could fit for Wraithguard?

What would be a translation for 'Shadowguard'? Could it be something like 'Scáith Bhreannan'?

I am also in need for translations of the following words:

Shadow Hunter(s)

Warlock(s)

Guardian Defender(s) of Erin
(would 'Óglaigh na Héireann' fit?)

Would 'Craobh Mór' mean Great Branch?
Any other examples for Branch titles eg. Black Branch or Wild Branch or so would be greatly appreciated.

What would Shield Guard mean? Could it be something like 'Sciath Bhrean' ?
