During a tour of the Ring of Kerry a few years ago, we visited a site in line with Skellig Michael. The site was an abbey of some sort which the professor pronounced "keel boon-ya". Can anyone help?

Sorry, not a very clear question. Looking for spelling of name and historical context. Who was she? Abbess? Saint? What is correct spelling of nam. Is it Boann? Boone? Or something else entirely?
Also, what is correct pronunciation of Brighid/Brigit? Breed, Bride or other?
Thank you for your help to a novice.
Dori
