A chairde...

I discovered another source of "practice" material for those of us learning Irish. :-)

WFUV, a college radio station in New York City, broadcasts a weekly show using Irish. The show, Mi/le Falte, airs Saturday mornings from 8 to 9 (Eastern Time). For the rest of the world, that's 1300-1400 UTC (end of Oct to first Saturday in April) or 1200-1300 UTC during the Spring/Summer.

As far as I know, it is the only one in the New York City area doing so. The station is on 90.7 FM. They also stream on the Web. (Windows Media Player only, I'm afraid. :-( ) The show mixes Irish and English. Topics include Irish culture, history, music, literature. My only "complaint" is the hosts talks rather fast. If English isn't a strong language for you, might have difficulty.

The station also has Irish/Celtic music broadcasts Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. Check out their Web site at http://www.wfuv.org for the details.
