Though trying hard and having exhausted most sources at hand, I have managed to find translations to only a couple of words of this text. Would anyone assist me in finding the correct translation?
(OK, my english is somewhat rusty, too, but at least I can normally figure out the essence of what people are saying in that language...)

B´aite liom féin bheith ar thaobh mhalaí shlèibhe,
Agus cailín gaelach a bheith ´mo chomhair,
Bheinn dá bréagadh is ag teannadh léithe,
Agus dar liom féin, a rún, gur dheas ár ndóigh.

I would find it more pleasant to be on the side of a mountain
With a gaelic girl by my side
I would be wooing (or seducing, take your pick) her, and moving close to her
And I would say, dear, that it would be a nice way to be.
