I'm learning this beautiful song and simply must know what I'm saying!

"Iss guh day thoo avoorneen slawn
Shule aroon
Shule go succir agus shule go kewn,
Shule go dheen durrus oggus aylig lume"

Thank you so much in advance! My husband is playing the Irish flute to accompany me.

Is go dté tú a mhuirnín slán
may you go safely darling
siúl a rún
walk my darling
siúl go socair agus siúl go ciúin
walk carefully and walk quietly
siúl go doras agus ealaigh liom
walk to the door and escape with me

"dheen" is "go dtí an", "to the" but the version I know of the song doesn't have that in it.

Wow - that was a fast response! I expected I would have to wait much longer! Thank you very much! Where can I find a decent phonetic pronunciation guide?? Online??

Now there I'm out of my depth!
I have spoken Irish since I can speak, so the issue hasn't arisen.
For the song, I suggest listening to good recording.

Otherwise, hopefully one of the people on your side of the Atlantic will respond.

as a way to at least hear the language, one might try the pronunciation audio on the grammar lessons here on Daltai
