Is go dté tú a mhuirnín slán may you go safely darling siúl a rún walk my darling siúl go socair agus siúl go ciúin walk carefully and walk quietly siúl go doras agus ealaigh liom walk to the door and escape with me "dheen" is "go dtí an", "to the" but the version I know of the song doesn't have that in it. |

Now there I'm out of my depth! I have spoken Irish since I can speak, so the issue hasn't arisen. For the song, I suggest listening to good recording. Otherwise, hopefully one of the people on your side of the Atlantic will respond. |
