Does anyone know if there is a small gaeltacht in Silicon Valley as apparently a tv crew from the irish language stationTG4 went there for a programme about it. |

I'm sure there are people there who can speak irish, but that doesn't necessarily mean "a gaeltacht", which would have to have some community setting. |

From what I remember of the show, Hector Amu/, Hector did a show abt the Bay Area, and ventured out to Silicon Valley where he met a Gaelgeoir who was working there. Hmmm, but on a completely diff tangent, it seems that Udaras na Gaeltachta has been encouraging IT companies to set up shop in the various Gaeltachts. A/dh mo/r ort, Po/l |

.........which of course, will convince the gaeltacht locals even more, of the usefulness and cultural value of their native language!!!! |

Isn't there a controversy going on now about the Gaeltacht and insufficient bandwith? |

That rings a bell, tho I can't remember the details. But efforts are being made in the Conamara Gaeltacht to offer computer and internet skills training to people there, at community centers in Bearna, An Cheathrú Rua, and Carna. |
