an-ghairgeach,
millteanach ilbhéasach,
thar a bheith ilbhéasach,
uafásach míchéadfach, srl.

Beir bua.

Ilbhéasach? Wouldn't that mean something like "multiply-mannered"? Did the "ill" of "ill-mannered" sneak across by accident? Isn't "míbhéasach" what we want here? Tá súil agam nach bhfuil na ceisteanna seo míbhéasach ná grossly insensitive. :-)

Ceapaim go bhfuil pointe ag Dennis."Míbhéasach" nó "anbhéasach", a cheapfainn féin.

'Oilbhéas'a bheadh agam dá mbeinn ar mo bhuille ceart agus gabhaim leithscéal libh go léir as cibé cén smál nó néal a bhuail mé.

Lena cheartú mar sin :

millteanach oilbhéasach
thar a bheith oilbhéasach

Ní bheadh a dhath agam in éadan 'míbhéasach'. Tá sé thar cinn agus go deimhin, a Dhonncha, is riachtanach an tsoiléire a sholáthar i gcás freagra ar cheist den chineál sin thuas. Nuair a bhíos codlatán mar mé féin ag greadadh freagra míchruinn isteach, ná bíodh aon drogall ort faoin mbeachtú, mar is gá, ar ndóigh. Go raibh maith agaibh.

Níor dhearc mé go fóill ar DIL i dtaca leis an réimír agus an < 'ill', ach is spéisiúil é sin, go deimhin.

Go raibh míle maith agat as an míniú seo, a Sheosaimh. D'fhoghlaim mé focal nua uait! Maidir leis an "oil" sa chomhfhocal, fuair mé "ail" in DIL agus "oil" in Ó Dónaill leis an gciall "disgrace; reproach, insult, abuse". Caithfidh gurb é sin atá i gceist anseo, agus in "oilbheart" agus "oilbhéim". GRMA aríst - tá mo chuid Gaeilge níos saibhre anois ná mar a bhí sí cúpla nóiméad ó shin!
