I don't really know too much about the gaelic language but I am aware that there are some symbols that go along with certain words. I was wondering if there are any symbols that go to the word fein or self. if there are web pages out there anywhere I would like the address please. Or perhaps someone could e mail it to me. thank you very much for your time.

Adam,
I think you are refering to a "fada." Please see the area directly below the "Add a message" box.
As you can see, "féin" or "self" has a fada over the é.
With many word processing applications you can get a fada (for lower case letters) by holding down the alt key and pressing certain numbers on your number key pad.
On my computer I do the following:
á - hold alt and press 160 é - hold alt and press 130 í - hold alt and press 161 ó - hold alt and press 162 ú - hold alt and press 163
You may have to play around a bit with different number combinations.
for macs fadas are easy. just hit [option] + e and then the vowel. it will automatically put a fada (or aigu in french) over the vowel. [option] + u gives you an umlout (I know I spelled that wrong) [option] + ` gives you a gràve (also in french) and an [option] + i give you a circumflex. aa
