I know you are all busy with more important things about maintaining our language, but...Can anyone tell me how to pronounce the names of Fionn MacCumail's dogs? They were Bran and (I have two spellings) Sceolaun or Sgeolan(Seumas MacManus's usage..I think he anglicized things for us). And I understand some said Fionn and the pups were related: something about his aunt spending some time as a dog, I believe. Anyway, my young Irish wolfhound rescue wants his girl dog's name, and I want to say it right. We have long arguments between people about the pronouncation of her friend's name also; of course it is "Bran" Thanks for your time. Joanne Holland

Bran - something like Bron. It's a short sound.
Sceolang - Shkyo-lang, with the emphasis on the first syllable.
Hope this helps!
